Finally level 80, and I spent 50+ gold, but it was worth it. Made my Mesmer into a boon duration and condi mesmer. Bought a whole exotic set of armor except the shoes that I got from Orr. Tried to get rid of as much power as I could and went full condi/toughness/vitality. 21k Health, still have level 55 rings. 79% boon duration, (90 being the cap), If I got two Superior runes of the traveler, I’d be at 89%. With the staff and signets giving me random boons, I like to play this way like a “Luck Mesmer”, everything happens randomly, and sometimes I get the best boons, and sometimes I have permanent swiftness which is good for traveling, but bad for combat sort of. Pretty cool twist on combat, I don’t care if it’s a bad idea, it’s a lot different. I keep my clones up, up to 9% reduced damage, and 9% more damage on top of my might and protection. This build also has a lot of blocks and teleportation to get out of trouble, I see it as the equivalent of a thief getting a lot of dodges, and guardian getting lots of retaliation. I also get to heal every 15 seconds, which reflects projectiles and removes conditions off of me.
About my armor choice, I didn’t want anything too skin revealing, but I also didn’t want to hide much of my skin, obviously, the shoes are the best. They’re like flats, you can’t wear any other shoes in gw2, these are a must. Didn’t want small or flashy shoulders, I wanted a very elegant, rich look, but the hair piece is probably my favorite, it’s not the classic hood or mask, it’s just a decoration head piece, which I feel a lot of cloth armor is missing. For the colors, I chose dusty grape and grape shade, I felt it was like a “shadow mesmer” color, which goes well with the elite skill, Reaper of Grenth, while I have all the boons flashing on me, the elite skill, my purple bubble, and chaos storm all flashing around me while teleporting around and making clones, I feel like just light bouncing around every where. I highly recommend this class if you like flopping all over the map but with a lot of control. Thieves weapons are a bit.. straight forward, you get tossed at your target or tossed away, that goes the same with the ranger’s melee weapons and the guardian’s leap, but this build has you bouncing every 8 seconds mixed with dodges, you’re always moving. Funny how I couldn’t stand mesmers at the launch of gw2 and said, “I will never have one of those”, then up until 4 months ago, I gave it a try, and it slowly grew on me once I understood the staff. I still don’t care for the scepter, but I need to use it for the block/torment and confusion and extra clones and the focus for free instant swiftness and awesome aoe clone. But, dual swords are so much fun for flopping around. Tempted to try out the torch, never found a good torch class. The 2hand sword’s auto attack is a turn off for me, the push back would be nice to get enemies off of allies, but I don’t like it otherwise. I still don’t know what staff I want to complete my look.. Maybe a Wopwop ascended staff for the appearance, but Mathilde’s Spire for stats, but that would be SOOOO expensive to transmute it.
